The tester comes with a 6ft jumper BNC cable and a 50ohm BNC female terminator. To test the cable, connect one end of the cable to the tester and terminate the end of the cable to the 50ohm BNC female terminator. When the client is used on the tester directly connected to the port on this device the tester will read as open. With the terminator on the cable it will read as pass or fail if the cable is working.
The difference is the shape of the blade. 66 Type were used on older 66 type blocks which only supported up to CAT3 whereas the 110 Type blocks that are more common today will support up to CAT6 and provide better bandwidth.
A Tone Generator/Probe can be used to locate a single cable in a bundle of cables. A sound is generated by the tone generator, and with the probe you would touch the cables in the bundle to hear the sound generated through the probe.
